Photo brooch emerged sometime in 2001 when I started wearing photographs from an old family album as part of my daily uniform. Very soon it became evident that an interactive project was beginning to manifest itself as strangers would frequently enquire about the content of the small photo on my chest. This, synchronized with a tradition of dressmaking from my maternal ancestors, finally encouraged me to produce a limited edition of 250 brooches for the second Cape Town Month of Photography.
